Second Sight is the editorial platform of Molend Art, dedicated to writing on contemporary art, exhibitions and curatorial practice. Based in Scotland and internationally oriented, the platform documents an evolving art scene through criticism, independent observation and public discussion.

We welcome submissions from artists, curators, researchers, critics, students and others engaged with contemporary art. We support emerging and established voices, with particular attention to writing grounded in close observation, informed research, clear argument and independent perspective.

Through ongoing editorial programmes, thematic projects and open submissions, Second Sight connects artists, curators, cultural institutions and audiences, bringing voices from different backgrounds into conversations across Scotland and the wider international art community.

Our Approach to AI

We welcome submissions developed with the support of generative AI.

We recognise AI as a valuable tool for research, organisation, translation, language editing and drafting. The use of AI does not influence our editorial decisions and does not lower or change our editorial standards.

Every submission is assessed according to the same principles:

  • Originality

  • Critical insight

  • Careful observation

  • Clarity of argument

  • A distinctive authorial voice

Our interest lies in the quality and integrity of the final work, rather than the tools used during the writing process.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, copyright permissions and overall integrity of their submission.

If generative AI has made a substantial contribution to the generation or rewriting of a manuscript, we ask contributors to include a brief disclosure when submitting.

Editorial Review

Every submission is reviewed by the SECOND SIGHT editorial team.

  • Initial review: 1–2 weeks

  • Revisions may be requested before publication.

  • Selected contributors will be contacted by email.

Contributing to SECOND SIGHT

We welcome writing that demonstrates close observation, independent judgement and meaningful engagement with contemporary art, exhibitions and curatorial practice.

We look forward to reading your work.
